Setting Up Your Google Analytics Account

In this tutorial, I am going to walk you through setting up your Google Analytics account so you can grant me access to it. The reason for doing this is so that you don’t have to give me access to your Google account using your username and password. I have no interest in your Gmail account, I just need access to your Analytics account.

But, many clients aren’t sure how to setup one up and it’s actually pretty easy. Even if you never go back to it again, at least you have the security in knowing it is tied to your Google account and not in the hands of your web developer only!

I have dealt with too many clients who have let their former web developers or designers set this up for them and then they have a really difficult time getting access to their own statistics when they decide to leave that developer and go with someone else. Don’t let this happen to you!

The first thing you are going to need is a Google account. If you don’t have one already, go and create one. This will give you a Gmail address, but you don’t have to ever use it for anything else if you don’t want to.

If you already have a Gmail account, you also already have have a Google account. Simply log into your Gmail account and we will be good to get started.

If you have previously set up an Analytics account for your website but are just needed to set up access to it for me, please skip to video number two below.

Once you have logged into Google go to analytics.google.com and follow my instructions in the video below.

Now that you have your UA number, simply email that to me and I will get your account connected to your website with it.

The next step is going to be granting me access to your Analytics account only and you will do that by following the simple steps in the following video.

And, that’s it! Pretty easy and done in a matter of minutes.
